Camera Operator Jobs in Nashville, TN

A Camera Operator, in the broadcasting industry, is responsible for operating video cameras to capture scenes for television broadcasts, films, or video productions. They work in studio and on location to film live events, documentaries, or creative projects. Their duties include selecting and setting up equipment, adjusting focus, exposure, lighting and sound for optimum quality, following scripts or director's instructions, and editing footage. They are also in charge of maintaining and repairing equipment and storing completed broadcasts for future use.

Essential skills for a Camera Operator include excellent hand-eye coordination, physical stamina, precision, patience, and attention to detail. They should also possess a strong understanding of digital cameras and editing software, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with a larger production team. While a specific certification is not often required, a degree in broadcast technology, film, or a similar field, as well as experience in the industry, is usually preferred. A person might work as a Production Assistant, Broadcast Technician, or Videographer before advancing to a Camera Operator role.
