The Machining Supervisor is responsible for overseeing employees in charge of operating machines and forklifts that perform a variety of processing operations. This position provides overall direction and on-floor leadership, while driving continuous improvement to machine room processes, procedures, and equipment. This individual is responsible for maintaining productivity, quality, service, and on-time delivery in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring customer requirements and company goals are achieved. This position reports directly to the Plywood Facility Superintendent, and will lead the Machining Department of approximately 30 employees, with expanding responsibilities. Responsibilities Provide daily leadership and supervision to hourly production employees in order to meet all goals Maintain and promote safe and clean work environment Ensure optimal use of plant resources through purchasing, workflow planning, process improvement, training, and development of assigned employees Create and maintain a work environment that promotes employee engagement and continuous improvement Provide training and development programs to Team Leaders and existing machinists to ensure they are well-qualified, able to work cross-functionally, and performing to the job qualification standards Assure maximum reliability of equipment, processes and procedures (through maintenance software and verbal communication) Identify and recommend technology/system improvements to achieve safety, manufacturing productivity, and quality objectives. Promote effective employee relations by providing coaching, training, development opportunities, and by appropriately addressing/resolving issues Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures Willing to be the solution to employee shortages Plywood administrative duties Perform other duties as may be assigned at manager's discretion Requirements Willing to work within and drive a culture where safety is the top priority Good communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills Ability to build teams and maintain positive cross-functional relationships Quality driven with strong attention to detail and accuracy Proficient in Microsoft Office, and ability to learn Insight ERP system Minimum of 2 years' experience in a wood manufacturing environment is required, preferably machining Knowledge of CNC programming software and machine tooling is preferred Prior leadership experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred EEO, including Disability/Vets
