The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job DescriptionMSNBC Digital is hiring a Writer and Digital Producer to help grow the Breaking News and Blogs team.
Responsibilities:
This role requires excellent news judgment, superb editing skills, an understanding of which stories in the politics and culture spaces are most important, an eye for entertaining and unique angles, and the ability to thrive in a fast-tempo newsroom.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record of upholding journalistic standards and will abide by MSNBCs standards. They should be familiar with the MSNBC brand, its shows and its on-air hosts.
This role will report to the Breaking News and Blogs teams senior editor and will work closely with digital editors and broadcast teams to drive the conversation and attract new audiences to MSNBC.
This is an evening shift on a hybrid weekend/weekday schedule. The position is based in New York City or Washington, D.C.
This role is represented by the Writers Guild of America East.
What you will do:
- Write concise, compelling takes on the days breaking and trending news
- Identify key on-air moments and monologues each day from MSNBC on-air talent, and turn those moments and scripts into digital text pieces
- Collaborate across editorial and platform teams to optimize reader engagement
- Contribute to MSNBC live blogs as needed
- Establish and meet MSNBCs rigorous Standards and Legal guidelines
- Read widely and stay abreast of the competition
Qualifications/requirements:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent years of relevant working experience
- 3+ years working in a newsroom environment; breaking news experience preferred
- 2+ years working in a strictly digital shop
- Must be willing to write on a broad spectrum of topics
- Must be able to file quickly and often, depending on the day's news cycle
- Must have the desire to work in a creative, demanding, competitive environment
- Must be a skilled writer with outstanding communication skills
- Must be professional, organized and nimble working across teams

Salary range: $93,000 - $110,000
